The Importance of Gifting Free Time

blogimage.12.23.13.jpg

Let's face it, life is often incredibly busy. Our 'to do" list is quite long, complicated and exhausting. And it feels like almost everyday something unexpected gets added to it. We are scheduled in from the moment our eyes open until we drag our tired body off to bed at night. Often, we become so accustomed to this way of being that we forget the beauty and necessity of free time.

But is this really the life we want to be living? There was a recent study done, not a terribly scientific one, but certainly real, in which a hospice nurse reported on the many things that people said as they faced their last days. The common thread was that they wish they had made more time....more time for family, for play, for relaxation, for themselves.

In the end I doubt I will be reflecting with great pride on how much of my "to do" list in life I accomplished. In the end I doubt others will remember how great I managed my hectic schedule. No, but they will instead remember the camping trips, the long walks, the belly laughter, the shedding of shared tears and the holding of hands. In the end I will take with me and also leave behind some of the love and beauty that was generated in these moments.

It is in these moments of free time that we find the glitter of our life. We find our soul reaches out and embraces these moments with intensity and makes certain that we walk away with a full heart and a beautiful memory. Gifts of free time can be of solitude so that we can simply be and discover who we are, what our passions are and what lights the sparks within us. Gifts of free time can be shared with others, but don't need to be scheduled and orchestrated. Instead, surrender to the spontaneity and delight in the wonder of the magic that happens.

On The Day You Were Born

blogimage.12.20.13.jpg

On the day you were born there was a powerful celebration. All the angels and guides surrounded your sweet new soul brought into this body. Together they gifted you with treasures to carry you through your life's journey.

One angel presented you with the gift of laughter so that lyrical delight would ring out from you. Another brought the gift of breath so that you could whisper wondrous words of support and breathe in all the delicious aromas and scents of this world. One guide gifted you with respect so that you could bring this into your relationships with all things and beings and have it mirrored back onto you. One angel shared the gift of fierceness, knowing you would need it at times to stand your ground.

On and on, one by one, the angels and guides stepped forward and showered you with gift after gift. Your little body glowed with the essence of them all; grace, vulnerability, wonder, passion, silliness, acceptance, joy, flexibility, determination, peace, resiliency, and insight. On and on into the first night of your little life they came, one after another, to be certain that you would be bestowed with all the unique gifts you would need to bless this world you were entering.

They knew of your greatness. They knew of your promise. They awaited your arrival and the celebration had begun. Together they gathered to cherish you and to honor the being you were and would become.

The final angel stepped forward and gave the very last gift they had brought. It was the gift of self-love. And it was said, "May she always use this gift wisely and generously, it is the spark that ignites the power of all the other gifts. It is the fire that will fuel them. It is the softness that will allow them to expand. It is the strength that will support them in times of need. This last gift is where the seeds of her true beauty will grow and flourish."

Transformation for the New Year

blogimage.12.18.13.jpg

As the New Year approaches I find myself thinking, as I often do at this time of the year, of things I would like to transform in my life. I believe in miracles. I also believe in the power behind creative energies. And I know that when I combine these two aspects to ideas, situations, projects in my life...the results are often amazing!

Miracles are often found in the company of magic. Magic is found in the beauty that surrounds our days. Being aware, being open and flexible and being willing to explore options is a terrific recipe for creating what feels like a miracle in your life! Things begin to shift, people stop and take notice, others are drawn in to the beauty and wonder. Before you know it an ordinary has been transformed into an extraordinary!

Creative energies become more powerful when we remove our expectations and our boundaries. When we can envision a different color, explore a new format, be open to a fresh aspect the creative energies begin to bubble to the surface and pop with a vibrancy. They explode with possibilities. They shimmer with hope. And we begin to see new ways of being.

The most important aspect to all this transformation is a bit more practical. It takes commitment to be on the look out for these energies. It means being engaged in the fulfillment of our transformations. It means living in the moment so that our perceptions are awake to the change and our consciousness is aware of what to release and what to embrace. Life is continually in a process of letting go and creating newness. The more we engage in this relationship, the more we focus our energies into the gifts of transformation. Then the more our life is in tune with creative miracles and wondrous opportunities.

The Stagnancy of Security

blogimage.12.17.13.jpg

Many seek security. They spend great time, money, energy and effort in bringing it into their life hoping that it will add a layer of safety, a blanket of comfort and afford them assurance. But too much security leads to stagnancy.

Security cannot exist if anything unexpected is going to happen to you. It can cause a denial of life and its creative energies. Some like to be in control of all aspects of their life. Not having this control causes them stress, fear and anxiety. They have not learned to trust themselves and their relationship with Source or the messages of their soul.

They like to know what is going to happen next and if it is something they do not want to have happen or like, they will make efforts to keep it from happening. Sometimes these efforts block the energetic flow of a gift heading their way. Sometimes the unfolding of a life event that is different from what you had planned is a life lesson with your name on it.

Frequently, there is great fear in the hearts of these controlling folks. They believe that the world is a dangerous place. For some it is, there is no denying that. But for most, it is not. They create a need to live a guarded life. They cannot withstand any kind of unpredictability. They want a sense of security, as though this will keep unfortunate things from happening to them. In fact, what it actually does, is keep great things, surprising things, miraculous, magical and joyful things from happening to them.

Often times, we know, what we focus on, where we place our attention is what we attract to our life. If we are living a life of fear, if we are constantly on guard and worried that the other shoe is going to drop or that the worst imaginable event is likely to occur, what then will be attracted to us?

How we choose to view the world has a huge impact on how we walk our path. If we view the world as a very dangerous place, filled with events, people and energies that are to be feared, we then limit our possibilities to have the beautifully full and wondrously vibrant life that is awaiting us. Choosing instead to see the world as safe, with some times in which negative can occur, we shift our attention on a life that will become filled with trust, love and abundance. Stagnation is often kept alive when we attempt to make our day far too secure.
