In The Arms Of The Mother

Unfortunately, much of my work keeps me indoors. But I make it a point to step outside each day and be embraced by the arms of the Mother. It is good for me on so many levels. I think too many people today rush from home, to work and then back home again without noting the beauty that surrounds them. Our modern lives keeps us so busy that many feel that they have no time to be outside; this has somehow become a luxury or a choice that can’t be made do to the circumstances of our busy lives.

If I were to choose this way, I would become very disconnected from the earth. I committed to making this a “have to” in my day. And, within a very short period of time, I discovered it became a “want to” and then a “need to”. When I step outside I connect with the energies of most of the elements. Earth grounds me, Air breathes new life into me and awakens me, the Fire of the Sun warms me and sparks my passions alive, and if there is rain or even Water nearby, I am reminded to go with the flow. I connect with all the other living beings around me. I listen to the birds, follow the squirrel as she moves about her day and delight in the dragonfly that flits from branch to branch in iridescent wonder. I celebrate that I am a part of this vast universe and all the energies of it.

I believe I am so powerfully drawn to be out in Nature because I am meant to be in it regularly. I find time to pause and remember all these parts of myself. I seek the beauty and the energies held there to heal me, to restore my balance and to delight me. All of my senses engage with the gifts of the Mother and I need Her medicine to be whole, vibrant and awake.

My soul seeks nourishment from my time spent in Nature. It finds its natural rhythm. It revives itself. It taps into creative energies that surround it. When I do this I feel my perspective shifts. When I go outside I find my energy level becomes exactly what I need at the time. Sometimes it helps me to release negativity that is only dragging me down. Sometimes it invigorates me and energizes me on a whole new level. And then there are the times it calms me and grounds me to stillness and presence.

Take some time today to bring your body outdoors. Try to be mindful of what you are experiencing. Breathe in the energies. Awaken your senses. Allow your soul to delight. You won’t be disappointed, but instead you will be brought to a beautiful place of wonder and recharge.

New Year Clearing for the Soul

When a new year presents itself many people will create resolutions to clean up, clear out and de-clutter many aspects of their life. Whether it be our homes, our bodies or our energetic fields, a good cleanse and clean up can be a very good thing.

When we take the time to clean up and cleanse our energetic fields our soul is given room for expansion and growth. It is given the opportunity to release anything that we have been challenged to let go of. As we let go of this heavy baggage that has been weighing us down our consciousness begins to re-awaken within. What has been stagnant and stuck can now be free and flowing.

With some positive intention and a little bit of commitment we find ourselves approaching this clearing with optimism and the results lend us lightness of spirit, energetic flow and the return of possibilities. Our energy that may have once been waning is restored. Our thinking that may have been clouded becomes clearer. Our emotions that may have been strained and negative are now open and more positive.

There are many ways one can clear their energetic fields and open the door to their soul's longing and freedom. Some use crystals, some meditation, some visualization, others chanting or drumming. Finding what works for you is not unlike finding the food plan that aligns with your body's needs or the exercise program that supports your body's movement.

Whatever method you choose to cleanse your energies, do so in a gentle and supportive way. Give yourself the time and space to be present and relaxed. Rushing through will not give you the results you are seeking. Be open to the possibility that it may take repeated efforts to get to the place of ease and freedom you are seeking. As with many de-cluttering efforts, the work sometimes is best done in layers and over time. Find what works for you and commit to it. The end results will bring freshness to your soul's work, lightness to your energetic fields and fluidity to your thoughts.

Your Soul's Tool Box

We all acquire a unique tool box as we move through life. The experiences we face ensure that we get creative, that we learn by trial and error and that we sometimes find success, accomplishment and progress. It is during these times that we discover new tools and learn to use them.

Whether it be visualizing, journaling, journeying, rituals, meditating, or any other act that calls to us, our soul guides us to tools that will benefit our life's work and progress. The more regularly we use our soul's tools the more we grow accustomed to them and learn to rely upon them for our work.

With the skills we gain in our days and the soul tools we gather we face our challenges with more agility, stronger intention and vibrant insight. Our soul tools can become an important aspect of how we move through life. The Universe responds to our attempts and brings to us what we need next. Our energies are engaged.

One thing that is needed in order for us to be our most authentic self we need to learn what our soul tool box holds. We need to become skilled at the use of these tools; knowing how and when to turn to them. Unless we put them to use, they cannot serve us. Sounds pretty obvious, yet often people fall into patterns that do not serve them well. Reminding ourselves that there are options to the way we make decisions, that we have choices about the tools we can use to best fit the situation that we are facing and that we can learn to rely on these tools to help us grow and expand toward our soul's calling.

Listening To Our Stories

We all have a story. It is the tale of who we are, how we came to be, where we hope to go. It holds the potential to make us uniquely whole. It sometimes defines us, often confines us, can inspire, challenge or disappoint.

Knowing that everyone does have their unique story the shaman listens with ears of understanding, looks for the messages between the lines of the story, and weaves the frayed strands together to bring alignment and healing. We learn from our stories and we learn from the stories of others as well.

Our stories provide us with tremendous lessons from which to grow. It is up to us to be open to these lessons. We learn our patterns and our blockages. We learn what is ready to be released or embraced. We learn how we have healed and how we have not.

No two people, no matter how similar they are, share the same story. So to offer unsolicited advice is often pointless. But when we are asked to witness and listen to someone's story we can create an opportunity for the engagement of the energies. We can hold with compassion, we can provide encouragement and we can celebrate successes.

The shaman is often called the Master Storyteller. She will listen to the story and read between the lines, she will find the soul loss, she will help to retrieve what has retreated and heal what is broken. She will bring the story to a place of wholeness and restore the beauty and wonder that is defined by that soul. It is within the wispy layers of the story that she finds the energies of graceful expansion.

Knowing this about our stories, we are gifted the opportunity to change the way in which we listen. Instead of engaging without being asked, we can instead witness with honor and respect. We can listen and be open to the possible lessons that are meant for us. And if we are given the role to do more than witness, we hold the potential to be in service to the soul of the story. We are given an opportunity to answer to the call of duty to be healer, teacher, or more. The greatness of the story awaits.
