Not Needing To Fix Everything

file3291242498944What if you could accept it? What if you could truly be with it? What if you were able to sit back and appreciate that your imperfections are truly beautiful, meant to be, part of your authenticity and truth? What if you could let go of the judgement and comparison? We all do it, comparing is part of the human ego. How much and how often and why we do it is, though, within our control. We have grown up comparing how good we are compared to others...how smarter, how slower, how shorter, how happier, how wiser, how richer, how prettier. We keep count, check and balance. How does it serve us? What do we learn? We learn someone will always seem to be better at or be worse at, someone will have more or have less, be thinner or be heavier and so on. How does that serve us, this comparison? It is a fact of life, that by now we should expect and find a way to BE with.

Instead, some of us use this information to really dig at our Self. We critique, we judge and we blame or shame our Self thinking that this will somehow make us change. Maybe we do change, odds are though we change in a way that is not supportive of our soul's needs. Our soul invites us each moment of each day to release this judgment and live as though we don't need to be fixing everything. Our soul longs for us to show up and be present and see the beauty that we are, that surrounds us and that is happening in our life. To see the beauty to be found in our less than, in our imperfect world and in the miracles and in the abundance.

Julia Cameron once wrote, "Wherever you are is always the right place. There is never a need toOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA fix anything, to hitch up the bootstraps of the soul and start at some higher place. Start right where you are." It is when we release judgment and embrace the wholeness of who we are, where we are and how we are that we begin a whole new way of living. We let go of the need to fix and we find we have so much more time in life to do what our soul longs for! To live life fully.

Hopes

I remember as a child being told, "Don't get your hopes up." It immediately deflated my balloon of hope and file4401234402329all its possibilities that I had floating about me. It immediately told me that life was bound to be filled with disappointments. This statement told me that I should not aim too high in any of my dreams as it was likely not to happen. This statement and others that were similar were often shared with me as I grew by many different adults in my life; parents, teachers, coaches and more. Statements like, "In the real world things like that don't happen" or "You are getting too old to think like that" or "Well, I used to believe that too until I wised up." After a while I stopped looking to life to bring me good things, magic or wonder. I have since learned that my thoughts are very powerful. They are so powerful that they create my reality. I was not willing to accept that my life did not hold miracles, that my life had to be mundane, that my hope was part of my powerful tool collection that I brought to my day.

I bring my hope to the day. Hope adds fuel to my actions, delight to my efforts and it buoys me through my struggles. It reminds me to believe in the miracles and to look for them. It shows me the path of my dreams. It is something I offer to those in my life as a bright burning star to shine on their actions and thoughts.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHope is a brilliant light that can serve as a beacon in our dark days. It shares a light onto the places where we feel stuck and shows us where to find the flow. It wakes parts of us that want to turn away and bury under the blanket of life when we feel overwhelmed, undone, or simply tired. Hope allows us to lean back into Her arms and reminds us of all the times she has helped us through.

My story is not one of disappointment or mundane. My story is full! It is packed with wonder, beauty, dreams, possibilities, growth, and gifts. There are parts of the story that have struggle, challenge or pause and hope is the light I look for to empower me to move to the next moment of the day.

Finding the Union With My Soul

Have you noticed that life is filled with comparisons? From the time we are born it begins. And it continuesOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA to go on to varying degrees throughout our lifetime. More often than not, comparison is our ego trying to get us to focus on how we are different from others. In a society that does not support healthy self esteem and loves to invest in the energy around the haves and have nots....this is a dangerous path to walk to. It shuts us down. It divides. It disengages us from our soul. To find the union with my soul I prefer to focus energies on recognizing and celebrating the ways we are the same. Finding commonality between peers creates a bridge that communication can cross over. It is what often draws the heart to follow the love thread when we meet our partner. How much we share in common offers a sense of recognition and delights the soul.

When we separate ourselves from others through our beliefs we think we are in control. We get big in ego, we are not being authentic and do not invite positive energies into the relationship. When shift our perspective to be open and receptive, welcoming and inviting, non-judgmental and hold the vision of love, we have moved into our soul presence. Positivity begins to flow and we find ourselves invested in the relationship.

file6091289079807When we hold the vision of our connection with everything, life expands. As Wayne Dyer states, "As a holistic being you shatter the illusion of your separateness and reveal your connection to everything. This empowers you in a way that the ego-driven self could never contemplate." We learn that egoic beliefs separate while soul love unites.

Your Power Song

file0001203965(1)Sitting in the early morning silence, watching the sunrise slowly fill the sky with sorbet colors, hearing the world awaken as the birds sing the morning into being, my soul breathes forth its power song. Sometimes it is a slow lulling rhythmic chant that begins deep within my belly and works its way up to cascade out and joins in the morning symphony. Sometimes it is a light and lyrical combination of tones and words of gratitude. And there are the times it is a gentle humming that carries me through the day, bringing connection to my body and my soul. The shaman learns to work beyond the comfort of the ego. Ego is what will judge your abilities, your talents and skills. This is not about a talent contest. A power song is about connection of your soul and the Universe. It is about celebrating with the world around you. It is about tapping into energies to bring to your day. It can be about releasing as well.

As you open ourselves up to your power song you find the energetic vibrations moving through us. You find a connection with a life force and your soul resonates. As you bring your sacred breath to your power song you find these energies moving within and through you. You feel yourself become lighter, more power-filled, vibrant and soul connected. You learn that this can become a potent tool for your sacred path.

Traditionally, shamans have used power songs and other forms of this creative force, such as power dance, to invite and connect to their spirit guides and allies. Often used in healing and soul retrievals it is one aspect of shamanism that helps bridge the worlds. It is mighty energy!

Many people find their power song by connecting with Nature. It is there, while alone, held in the gentle file000501152693(1)embrace of the Mother that we find our safety and our creativity. We find ourselves connecting with the beauty that surrounds us and an energetic flow begins. Others find their power song while visiting their sacred place, whether it be a temple, an altar or a sanctuary. Regardless of where you access your power song, know that it is there within you, waiting for you to embrace and embody it.
