The Power Within Our Thoughts

file441340430898Oh the power of our thoughts! Not only do they set the tone for our day, but they impact hugely those around us. We know what it is like when we are in a funk, a negative or pessimistic place. Those around us pick up on that energy and have to be aware of it in order to now be drawn into it. So is the reverse of this. "When we wake up to the fact that our thoughts touch the people we are thinking about, we are again asked to choose which thoughts we send out. If we send out the thoughts of the heart, we can heal, even if the person who needs healing is far away." – Robert Moss, from the teachings of Island Woman in Dreamways of the Iroquois.

The above quote is from one of my favorite books. I love the concept of our thoughts holding healing energies within them. As you can see, if our negative thoughts have impact then the reverse must be so for the balance that life creates. The balance is that our positive thoughts can impact those around us. Weighing this gives me pause. I have great power in my thoughts. I can impact those around me simply by intentionally selecting the direction of my thoughts.

Selectively choosing positive thoughts filled with love is not always easy. Our egos get hurt, people’s actions impact our day, and sometimes words sting when said to us from a place of hurtful intention. We are human after all. But that said, if we can get ourselves to rise above this place of egoic struggle. If we can find the soft spot of love in our heart and remember we are spiritual beings, then we can alter the path of our thoughts.

I sometimes have to remind myself that I will spend energy daily carrying the relationships I am in. I can carry negative energy, work hard at the effort it requires of me and not feel very positive, happy or well. Or I can spend energy daily carrying the relationships I am in with positive energy, I may still be working hard, but at least I feel positive, I feel connected to source and I feel love. It is in the choice. It is not easy to let go of hurt. It takes intention and effort, but the result is so much better for me and then for others. I want to believe I am in service to the good of the whole. I strive daily to keep balance and optimism in my heart. So even on those days when the struggle is more taxing than others, I can be reminded that there is a choice I can make.

To be apart of the energetic healing of the world is important to me. More important than stroking my file0001060409764wounds, or seeking the opportunity to prove I am in the right. My thoughts, when tended to with intention can heal the wrongs done to me and then in my healthy heart I can send love and positive energies to others in my life. Holistic spiritual health in the making!

Presence and Awareness

As a shaman and a spiritual life coach I work with so many people with many diverse needs. The variety of file000324750683reasons that I am contacted for support, healing, connecting and more are as assorted and amazing as the stars in the sky. Some of these reasons are more extensive than others, but regardless my approach remains the same. I work with all the people who contact me with complete awareness. That way my entire being is available. I leave behind me my worries or concerns, my baggage or stresses and come as “clean” as I can to the moment. This allows me to bring truth to the moment. It allows me to respond with love and understanding, compassion and wisdom and it allows me to see with clarity what is at hand.

Being present, I bring an open heart and I feel fully grounded with my authentic self and my essence. My energy of my soul is able to flow freely. My thoughts are not cluttered and my heart responds so that it can meet with the beauty and perfection of the person before me.

There is a silence and a wholeness within me when I arrive to this place. I have no judgments or opinions. I am able to be open to the guidance that enters the equation, to see the unfolding of what is being shared, and to hear the story with ears that pick up nuances that have perhaps been guarded for years.

This presence creates a catalyst for healing. It moves around ego and directly to the soul and witnesses the needs. It is an expansion of consciousness that allows a bridge to be made from the need and crisis across to the wholeness and healing.

file0001140496288Awareness allows the presence of my being and of my soul to bring a quality to the relationship that is needed for this process of connection and for the healing to begin. When I am fully authentic, when I act in presence and awareness, it also gives nourishment to the inner being of the people around me.

Presence allows me to see a client’s situation in a light without judgment. I see it in a light of possibilities. I see and understand that the person is exactly where they need to be to take the next step in their spiritual development. It is about lighting the light in the inner being of another person so that they can accept, release, embrace or move forward…to whatever the next step may be.

Your Sacred Right

file0001274518692There is so much talk about rights these days. We all have certain rights. Some from our government, some from our memberships, and some from our sacred connection! We have the right to honor and celebrate fully our sacred purpose and our soul’s call! Is that a right you have focused your attention on lately? What does honoring and celebrating this right mean? What does it require of us? Where do we begin? I think it takes intention of living in the present and stepping fully into the faith that everything you are and are experiencing is meant to be and is a part of the sacredness of your life. That does not mean you don’t take action to make change. That does not mean you wimp out when you are not happy with what is occurring in your life. It means though that there is a reason for it. Perhaps it is for us to learn from, or for someone else to take part in, but there is a reason for us to at least be open to.

I also believe it means that we have the courage to live our life fully. It means accepting the call of our soul to shine brightly and to step out of our comfort zone and try new things, embrace new opportunities, experience all possibilities that resonate with us. This requires some leaps of fate and insight into following our inner wisdom. It is an acceptance that we have been gifted this life for a reason and we have something to offer and bring to it!

How do you honor your sacred purpose? Do you shy away from it when others give attention to it? Do you keepfile0001091771377 yourself small in order to feel safe? Do you self critique to the point of self-doubt and disbelief. Then maybe it is time to shake things up. Try one small act a day of honoring and celebrating your sacred purpose. Then when that becomes more comfortable, build upon that. Keep it going until it feels natural and wonderfully fulfilling! Your soul will shine, others in your life will be blessed and you will feel whole and bright and alive. It is your sacred right, after all!

The Power of Words

file000594744442Oh the power of our words. We all have experienced a time when listening to someone share an uplifting and positive speech makes us feel powerful and filled with hope. Or we have shared times when a compliment carries us throughout the day. On the flip side, we also know how difficult it can be to shake off someone’s negativity when they share it with us. Or how sometimes watching the news or reading the newspaper leaves us feeling despondent and at a loss. Words are a very powerful tool. When we fully understand how to use them, they can propel us forward in ways we never imagined. Choosing your words carefully will alter the views others have of you and will, even more importantly, impact what you believe about yourself and your abilities. In the beginning it may be challenging as our speech patterns are sometimes difficult to change. But once you are aware and begin to place some focus on the message and meaning that is leaving your lips or the thoughts that are traveling through your mind…the change becomes clear.

So where to begin? Start with some basic statements that we make daily. Every time you begin a statement with the words “I am” pay close attention to what follows. Word selection matters in how we are perceived and how we see ourselves. Try choosing only positive endings to this statement. It creates who you are and how others may respond to you. So, even when you are stating something that you feel is a bit of a stretch, state it and raise the expectation for your higher self!

Another place to put focus on the word choice that you make is when you are saying the word “never”. For example, “I could never”…. Are you really interested in putting a stamp of disbelief on something that could become a possibility and now you have labeled it as an impossibility? Instead of “I could never or will never write a book, fall in love, get that job…” why not, “I am planning to someday write a book, I know the day will come where I will find love, I am qualified to get that job.” You get the picture.

Try not to make self-limiting remarks, try to make positive statements. If you bring your focus to this youfile0001685489042 will begin to notice others will respond to you differently and your self-beliefs will become powerful, optimistic and possibilities will begin to present themselves. Your eyes will now be looking toward them, instead of away!
