The Beauty of Slowing Down

Life passes quickly. A fact we learn as we move through our life. The days of childhood long gone as well as the feelings of a day lasting a lifetime. Now, I find that the week no sooner begins and I am looking at Friday! It is not that I am over busy or over worked. But my life is full! There are many things I am involved in with passion and delight.

I am not one to rush through things. I like to savor moments. I like to enjoy the energy. I like to be present. When I do take the time to slow down I notice my focus shifts as well. I become a more attentive listener. I offer more of my heart to the moment. I pick up on nuances that would otherwise be missed.

Slowing down also helps me to be more efficient and effective in my tasks as well. Sloppy errors rarely happen. I am tuned in and I pick up on things that could go amiss before they actually happen and I am able to intervene.

My natural rhythms flow when I slow down. I tend to be a rather grounded person and so when I am going at my own natural pace my energetic vibrations match. As I bring this to the many activities of my day I find I get more done, am very awake and aware and enjoy my way through the day. Slowing down helps me to maintain a balance in my life between the doing and the being.

Slowing down, whether it be at work, food preparation, eating, moving or in conversation creates space for magic and wonder as well. It allows me to check in with Source and be in the moment. It allows me to share this beauty with others.

Our world is fast paced. It can be chaotic and frenzied. But I can choose to be within my own energetic vibrations and live a life that fits my flow. When I do, good things happen. When I do, I feel whole and complete. When I do, I bring my best to what I do. There is great beauty to be found in the slowing down.

Perspective and Power

Everything contains its own unique energy. Even our perspective. Sit with that for a moment and think on this ... if perspective is energy, what do I want to give energy to? If we invest our time, attention and energy into something we are a proponent of as opposed to something we are against, imagine the results we could manifest!

Being against something or someone can generate an energy that is infused with a negative essence. Your perspective will be impacted by this as you move through your day. BUT if you can shift in the way you are viewing the situation, the relationship or circumstances to a positive perspective, the energies are impacted in kind.

In the shamanic realm, energies can be generated quite quickly and spread with tremendous potency. Knowing this, positive energies that are rippling out and spreading from our thoughts, our actions and our words will have a far more healing and healthy impact in the end than if we place our focus on something we are not in alignment with.

This is not to be confused with going through life with rose colored glasses, but instead making choices that are grounded in the intention of well being, support, healing and growth. The stronger these energies become in my life the more they crowd out and take over the room for the negative aspects of life to be allowed in.

It takes awareness and being in the moment. It takes conscious thought and attention. But the more it is practiced, the readier my mind, body and soul are to enter into that space. Not being in this alignment feels uncomfortable and unfamiliar now. Whereas living a life seeking the power of a positive perspective and focusing my attention and energies there feels rich and vibrant. It becomes an easy choice to make.

The Soul Will Guide

blogimage.4.30C.14.jpg

I recently was guided by my soul to explore a new tool to use in my shamanic practice. I was working with a client who was suffering emotionally and unable to let go of the pain. The fear of what was behind the pain was a place she could not visit in her state of agitation and suffering. I knew her soul was seeking healing. I knew it was ready to become whole once again.

My service to her was to try and find a way to bring her soul to this new state of being, to help in the healing of the wound, and to find peace. I opened myself up to my soul's wisdom, trusting that it would guide me. I found a comfortable flowing energy waiting for me to move in.

I picked up my drum; my long trusted friend that had often helped me in my healing, my grounding and my releasing.  I drummed matching her breathing which gradually began to be more controlled and slower, and so the drum beat responded in kind. Then within my being I felt her energy, I felt it filling the room, I felt it flowing and rising, ebbing and flowing.

Song rose from within me, tones and notes building with each drumbeat and vibrations wove their way through. Swaying in the flow of the energy this soul song rose from my being and filled the room. Gentle tones of healing were released. Heartfelt notes of peace where shared. The room expanded with the energy of the soul's healing.

My client relaxed, tears flowed, peace filled her being, her soul opened up to the healing and became whole once again. The beauty of the moment was larger than the both of us. The energy that was created was timeless. From here her healing would continue, from here her soul could be alive and vibrant, and from here the pain and fear was released.

I still have much to learn of this new tool. I trust my soul will guide me. I am open to its medicine. I am excited to see its power. I am honored to be introduced to it. Little did I know that moment that I picked up my drum what was waiting to become. When we learn to trust our soul, when we allow it to guide us and we are open to the energy of what it brings...magic happens, grace appears and the energies flow.

I Have The Perfect Teacher

blogimage10.14.13.jpg

I am counting my blessings. I am filled with gratitude. I am celebrating the beautiful lessons that I am given each and every day. All this is presented to me by my perfect teacher.

I have had many different mentors in life. I have read an unimaginable amount of books by the wisest of healers and spiritual visionaries. I have had the glorious opportunity to practice many different ways to connect more and more fully to my soul's calling.

Over time I have learned that my perfect teacher insures that the very lesson I need to be learning, the very insight I can find within myself and the very longing my soul is reaching to is the lesson of the day.

What is the best lesson my perfect teacher has taught me? All the situations and circumstances of my life, the big and the small, the powerful and the insignificant, are there to teach me exactly what I need to be learning.

Who is this perfect teacher? How is it that they are so accurate and timely? My perfect teacher is my life. This beautiful, changing, expanding and evolving life! My life makes certain that my path is crossed with people who will bring into my day offerings and needs, challenges and trials, wisdom and grace, all to enrich the experience of what my life lesson is in the moment.

My life is my classroom. The situations, the relationships, the experiences and more all add to the day's lesson. It is within this classroom that I practice patience, love, awareness, presence, gratitude, and compassion. It is within this classroom that I learn my strengths and my weaknesses. My teacher makes sure that lessons are balanced and full.

I make sure to fill my heart with gratitude each day for my teacher. I awake every day with the honoring of all the possibilities that will surely come my way. I remember that this perfect teacher has brought me so far down this amazing path, even when I had my doubts or dared to have fear. My teacher stayed true to me. My trust is steadfast that my life has all the answers that I need to be my fullest, my most brilliant, my best Self.
